Has anyone noticed that Marilyn Monroe copied Lana's acting style and mannerisms. I've noticed this for a while now. It's obvious in her early films.
I'm watching Johnny Eager now, and Marilyn definately copied Lana's voice but added more of a breathiness.

I just saw the postman always rings twice and just noticed that. I've been a mm fan all my life and couldn't help but think lana's character was just like marilyn's in Niagra. especially the way they speak (emphasizing certain letters like d etc...) they are both special in their own way. this was my first lana turner movie and I can't wait to see more. she also reminds me of a present day actress but I can't figure out who.
shareI don't see the similarity between Lana's Cora and Marilyn's Rose; Marilyn played Rose tough and she was believeable, while Lana tried to be tough as Cora but she never really seemed beliveable to me. Rita Hayworth would have done it much better; Gilda, The Lady from Shanghai.

I wonder how lana felt about it. she must have had class since she didn't go on record (that I know of) downing marilyn like other actresses did. rita hayworth isn't as captivating as lana turner besides I don't think lana was going for the tough cookie look. her character in the movie was weak (example when she's leaving her husband but turns back, and at the end when they're swimming) marilyn's character was perfected in every movie so there's no comparison to anybody but you can't deny the similarity.

These ladies all went through speech and acting lessons given by their studios and came through it all sounding much the same. Then they went to hair and make-up and came out looking the same. In many ways the studios were factories. But what a lovely product they turned out.

In my opinion I believe Lana Turner is prettier than Marilyn Monroe and she is just a horrible acrtess
