Rip Torn in '3 Weeks To Daytona'

Rip Torn is in the new independent film "3 Weeks To Daytona" (http://www.3weekstodaytona, http://www.facebook.com/3weekstodaytona), directed by Bret Stern. The movie is about a down on his luck race car driver (played by Scott Cohen of "One Life To Live" and "Kissing Jessica Stein") who has only three weeks to make it to the biggest race of his life - but he has no money, no car, and along the way he has to patch things up with both his crew chief (played by Jorja Fox of "ER" and "CSI:") and his son. Rip Torn plays his friend and advisor, Sal.

There is a private screening of the movie on March 22nd in New York City - as far as I know Rip Torn will not be there, but I will be attending and I will write up a review for JFO (http://jorjafox.net).

Check out the official pages for photos and trailers.

Mr. Torn has long been one of my favorite actors. Can't wait to see him in this.

Character acting is a dying art... or maybe it's the viewers' discernment that is dying. Benicio del Toro was a character actor, until he started to believe he shouldn't be. And Rip Torn was a brilliant character actor, until... whatever.

Sad that Torn had fallen so far, and I firmly believe anyone who did what he did should pay the legal price, but I hope he gathers his wits and reclaims his life. His is a rare gift, which is to create a character that acts as a foil for the "leading men" (or women) who couldn't really shine without something to compare them to.
