Does he, or has he worn a wig, or toupee?
I was watching him in an episode of Columbo (1991) and Rip's hair looks very suspect.
It looked either like a wig, toupee or transplant, and his hair has a purple/reddish color about it.
Very weird.
A lot of actors wear hair pieces. John Wayne and Ray Milland are two examples. Rip would have been 60 in 1991. I did not see the show you are referring to. But it would not be surprising.
