How/When did you become a fan of JTT, if you are?

I'm just interested in this. So, I'll tell my story. It was my senior year of high school, it was 2005. And I got really sick and missed a week of school. So, I got really bored at home, just watching tv all day. So, I drove myself to this DVD store that was about 5 minutes away from my house. I picked out 2 DVD sets and bought them to watch. I picked out The OC, it was popular at the time and I wanted to watch the few first episodes that I had missed. Then, I wanted to watch something funny because I was feeling awful and needed a laugh. I only watched a handful of Home Improvement episodes prior, but I remember it being funny so I bought the season set. I soon got hooked on the show and loved the tv family. I didn't even know who JTT was, my brother told me. I was watching the episodes and my brother walks in the says, you know he is the voice of the Lion King and I said who and he said that one, the middle son. So, anyway, I became a big fan of the show and started looking up information on the cast members on the internet and discovered JTT. I liked his views and thought his pictures were cute. So, that's my story. I now know that JTT was big in the 90s but I didn't even know who he was, maybe because he hasn't done much since like 1998. I do remember watching the Lion King and I was scared of Scar at the time, I was pretty young and in elementary school. So, anyone else want to share their stories?

I became a fan when I was about 10.

I grew up watching Home Improvement so I can't remember the time I began watching. But, pretty much the first time I saw him I was in kiddy-love haha. Also, I remember in the '90s going to the video shop and getting his newest video releases; Man of the House, Man of the House and eventually, I'll Be Home for Christmas. Good time, good times.
Oh, and of course through all this I knew he was the voice of Simba which made me think Simba the cub was hot. weird.

Cheers.

I should note that when I was born, Home Improvement was already in its 5th season xD
I know my dad watch the show for its entire run, and I vaguelly remember him watching it when I was little (which would have been at the end of the shows run). I wasn't truly introduced to the show until I was 8. My dad was watching a rerun and then told me that Tim was "the guy that played Santa in your Santa Claus movie". I watched the reruns here and there, but didn't really get hooked on it until this past summer. As I got into the later seasons, I thought "daaannngg Randy is getting really hot ... am I weird for liking a guy thats twice my age? ". After doing some research on JTT, I realized that every girl and her dog had a crush on him back in the '90s xD I started to really see how great of an actor he was, and I thought it was cool that he was supposedly a Christian and had some of the same views as me and stuff.

And that is my story of how I grew to like JTT (:

I'm gonna start a {r/e/v/o/l/u/t/i/o/n} from my bed.

Oh, my dad LOVES Home Improvement too. And Tim Allen kind of reminds me of my dad. I was alive for Home Improvement's whole run, I'm an 80s baby. But I just never really watched the show for some reason when it originally aired, maybe just a very few episodes. Yes, every girl had a crush on JTT and I think many still do. He was naturally talented. I loved a lot of his views too, and he seemed to have a kind heart. I hope he hasn't changed too much. I also loved that he is Christian because I am too, so I felt close to him because of that also.

You're right. JTT was everywhere; almost if not greater than Justin Bieber. I was 11 and hated 'Home Improvement' and, interestingly enough, when I did catch parts of the show before or after my fave shows, JTT sounded like he hated being part of that show well (through character).

I was 11. I was really into 'Disney Magazine' and he must have been in that a lot. I still remember the non-stop commercials for 'Man of The House'. When it was announced he was the voice of 'Simba', that was everything to me. Matthew Broderick, who??! Hahaha. Actually, when 'Tom and Huck' did come out (I was 12 or 13) it was world-embarrassing to admit you cared to see it. I felt terrible for JTT to have to degrade himself like that.

It's crazy, now reflecting back, JTT didn't even do much and yet, the PR machine that was behind his image was everything. I truly, truly hope no one did anything to hurt him during those formative years.
