I doubt many people want to watch a film about the career of someone who makes elevator music.

He doesn't seem like the type of rock star to deserve such a treatment.

He basically walked away from the Rock lifestyle when The Police peaked in the mid 80s and he went into producer/solo artist mode, only doing camoe musical appearances but mostly promoting his own brand. His solo work still holds up very well, but it isn't groundbreaking at all. To me it's very similar to Phil Collins and Steven Winwood. All of them are experts at their craft but their personal lives are boring as Hell.

reply

not sure his personal life was that exciting.

reply

agreed. he just made great music and lots of money with little to no drama.

I saw a video/interview on youtube some time ago and Sting was with an interviewer touring inside a shop where CBGB use to be (it's a clothing and music shop now) and he talked about his days when he left Newcastle with barely any money and tooling around London looking for work and music gigs. That was the only interesting part of his story to me as after he met up with Stewart and Andy and started The Police their careers basically hit full speed until he burned out and went solo. Not much drama during their band days to be honest so I'm not sure what type of biographical drama you could make a movie out of.

For my money, I'd love to see a biopic of Marc Bolan, David Bowie, or Peter Frampton.

It's STEVE Winwood, my guy.

Little Stevie

The problem with most biopics, is that they're little else but (glorified) concert-re-enactments.
The actual behind-the-scenes subject matter are rarely that interesting.
Elton John and Freddie Mercury have both lived far more extravagant lives *on* stage (as opposed to off) but were both granted biopics (primarily based upon both previous and future record sales, as opposed to 'life-experience')

Whilst 'Sting' has shifted a few 'units' in his day, his biopic would consist of the following:
Born......became a teacher.......sung.....dabbled with acting (before returning to singing)

Hardly 'Glengarry Glenn Ross'.......is it?
