The Hardy Boys Movie

What ever happened to him and Tom Cruise playing grown up Hardy Boys? I always found that idea oddly interesting, maybe it's because I'm a Hardy Boys fan. But now I don't see the project anywhere, I assume it's never gonna get made, but why?
