Jimmy's childhood days.

I knew Jimmy personally. We lived on the same block in East New York,Brooklyn. We use to call him Smitty. I remember his then, little sister Dodgie. We use tp play touch football on the block from sewer hole to sewer hole. His teamates were Jose and Fish, while I would have my brother Danny and my cousin Jackie. After a while, his mom would come home and his Dad would come to the door and call Smitty, and he would go upstairs.

I saw Jimmy on Regis and Kelly this morning, and he remarked that he would see his friends and family. But, nobody on the block can ever remember him coming through where he used to live. Vermont Street, stand up !!!!!!

I doubt if he will ever see this message, but from a guy that lived across the street from Jimmy Smits,...........

he also lived in the Sea Isle on Nostrand. My mom worked with his dad at Ulano - and I sold his dad my 68 Barracuda. Maybe he visited his friends in Sheepshead Bay. My cousin Marilyn Sherman managed his career and made him into the star he is today. He thanked her at the oscars once.

Hello, Susan:

I was just in conversation with a gentleman who mentioned that Marilyn Sherman was the agent of Jimmy Smits. I Googled the two names and your note popped up.

This gentleman was Stanley, originally from Brooklyn, and he was Marilyn's 1st Cousin.

He's probably related to you, so if you reply here I'll let him know and he'd probably get a big kick out of it.

Thanks---

Since there are people here in the "know", can anyone tell me if Jimmy was the baby in the movie "The Last Hunt" (1956), with Robert Taylor and Stewart Granger. Someone on the boards of that movie stated it was Jimmy Smitts that was the Indian girls baby. He would have been about the right age. Thank you!
