Such a wonderful, excellent actor

He is believable in all the roles I have ever seen him portray. From Anita to River, he always is so natural and damn good at his craft. River that one blew me away!!!! So good!!!!!!

I have just finished watching RIVER and I agree, marvellous show, I watched it in one sitting and now want to go straight back and watch it again!

Totally agree. I re-watched each episode after transmission on the iPlayer at least five times and then bought the series. Must have watched it eight times, now, and can only marvel at how brilliant Stellan Skarsgard is. I wish they could have incorporated the deleted scenes, as at least one of them was really key (I believe) to understanding how one of the main characters would probably behave at the end. I loved this series more than I can say and am hugely disappointed with the BBC for throwing it away. I have vowed to never read another of Alison Graham's reviews again. As I understand it, Stellan Skarsgard was tied in for a second series, if they'd had the guts to do it (and Abi Morgan had been on board to write it), and there was certainly enough to explore with the other relationships in his life (Chrissie and Ira for a start) to carry on for one more series. Stellan Skarsgard was magnificent. When I think of how much dross there is on TV at the moment, I can only be thankful there was something so strange yet honest to break up the monotony. Now I have resorted to listening to the radio or watching foreign series or films instead - there is nothing approaching it on TV now.

I have just watched his amazing work in " The Simple-Minded Murderer" (1982). Brilliant performance. I am going to look for more of his earlier performances.

I'm not saying everything he has been in is great. but he is always consistently good in every role he has been in.
