someone fill me in..

im confused as to why alot of people arent too fond of this lady.

Ive only seen her in the movie Taxi Driver, and she did a pretty decent job in that id say.

But i dont follow her career really at all.

Im sure some of you are familiar with the show "Family Guy".

they made fun of her quite a few times on that show for some reason.

Peter Griffin went to her house in an armored knight outfit and they made Cybill Shepherd fly around like a dragon and Peter killed her by stabbing her and cutting off her head.

And Stewie Griffin has made a few remarks about her.

I was just wondering if anyone knew why people seem to dislike her...and apparantly compare her to a Dragon?

I think it started in the early 70's. Beloved (in the industry) Polly Platt was dropped flat by Peter Bogdanovich for the beautiful Cybill. Cybill was viewed as a man-stealer. Plus, Cybill had a relatively easy IN into showbiz when Peter spotted her on the cover of a magazine, and put her in The Last Picture Show. Cybill was great in TLPS, by the way.
She was the kind of woman that people loved to hate - I remember it vividly. I think that if the same situation happened now, no one would give a damn, but back in the early 70's, it was a pretty big scandal. Plus, Bogdanovich tried to make Cybill into a huge star by casting her in a couple of his movies, and giving the Cybill-haters more reasons to hate her. At Long Last Love was one of the movies - one of my favorite movies by the way, because I love sarcastic humor. Cybill was panned, the movie was panned, and Cybill's career started to go downhill. She recovered in the mid 80's with Seduced, Yellow Rose of Texas, and then the biggie Moonlighting. If you get a chance, check her out in Moonlighting om DVD- she was awesome.
