KATHERINE + SAM TIMELINE (INTERESTING)

1974: Things not gong that well for Sam; guest spots on TV shows.

1975: Does Lifeguard.

1976: Gets POed with Paramount because Lifeguard was marketed as a sex movie.
Gets pretty much blackballed with the American studios because of it.

1976-7: A couple of OK TV miniseries. Things not going that well again.

1978: Sam gets feature work in England. Enter Katherine Ross, 38 with 4 failed marriages. Starred in 3 landmark movies. Hmmmmmmm. Opportunity knocks. Combine his name with hers to raise his fame (and paycheck)..an old Hollywood trick. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

1983: 1 bombed feature, 1 bombed pilot and 2 TV movies under their
belt together.

1984: Katherine is a gal in trouble via a Christmas present from Sam. They then get married.

1991: The 2 lovebirds are on the Arsenio Hall show. Sam is clearly in a bad mood and starts getting real rude and sniping at Katherine, voicing his annoyance and disapproval of marriage and family life. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

I don't think that this is a rumor. This was in an actor profile reference book published in either 1994 or 1995. It may have been by Leonard Maltin. Also, they didn't really meet in 1969. In that 1991 Arsenio Hall interview Sam did mention that he only saw her in the studio commissary and that there was no introduction or interaction because they were not in any scenes together. Do you think that there was exploitation on Sam's mind when they met in early 1978 in England? It looks that way to me.

I know this is a really old post but I'd love to see that Arsenio Hall episode you're talking about. Is it available somewhere?
