Question about his looks towards the end

I'm just wondering why Christopher's looks changed so drastically after the accident- What is it about total paralysis that produced changes in his facial appearance including even his hair? Tragic story nonetheless. RIP.

His alopecia became more noticeable after the accident, so that's why he had to shave his head. I'm not sure about his facial appearance changing, but I did notice that he also gained some weight after the accident. He had many health issues, it's sad thinking about how much pain he must have been in.

I am glad someone asked this because i was wondering the same but didn't want to sound rude asking, I loved Christopher Reeves, he was my first Hero and was so hard to see him like that :-(.

I asked this question of someone who has knowledge of such things (back when Christopher Reeve died) and asked him to confirm what I thought. And when I told him what I thought he nodded and said, "Highly possible."

I asked him if he thought Christopher Reeve were undergoing some experimental treatment?

He was an inspiration to a lot of people but in all honesty I would rather be dead than be like he was after his accident. I'm not trying to sound rude, I'm just stating a fact.

Same here.

Reeve himself often asked that question. Apparently, he suffered from alopecia much of his life, as well as allergies and asthma. Such a shame!

Alopecia much of his life? His hair looked pretty thick pre accident.

Pre-accident CR absolutely agreed with you. His mother even said early on they should let him go, because he had said he wouldn't want that. But his brother said he believed that once CR woke up he would want to watch his children grow up even if he had to do it out of the corner of one eye. Ultimately CR agreed with his brother.

It's possible that he went into a minor depression right after his condition. That may have contributed to it.
