A legend. Amazing actor with many unforgettable performances. Virgil from In the Heat of the Night, John Prentice in Guess Who's Coming to Dinner and Mark in To Sir, with Love. I can't imagine the 1960s cinema without him.

They said one of the factors in his death was Alzheimer's. He must not have been very far along. Didn't he appear in public not too long before his death?

A long wonderful life lived, but still, really sucks to hear. He was an absolute legend. R.I.P. Mr. Poitier.
