Accent

Interesting how she pulls a Southern accent out of the blue in Basic now and then - but otherwise neutral American.

Very good that she loses the typical Danish-English accent - not easy to do.

I was really curious about her natural accent, after having just watched "Gladiator." Her English accent was pretty solid, but I felt that her Danish accent slipped in here and there, which got me curious to find out where she was from. Very impressive though!

Will have to listen more carefully in future. I can catch Danish (and Dutch) usually very easily - and haven't so far with her.

reply

I have watched interviews with her, and she has a slight tinge of an accent. You really have to listen closely to catch it.

Yes - that happens with interviews - actors often revert to their 'own' language with respective intonations - at least to some degree. Kim Basinger is a good example - she goes 'Southern' in interviews.

Not surprising since they ARE actors :-)

For a good 'laugh' - have a listen to David Suchet (Poirot) when he's talking 'normally.'

I saw her in Mission to Mars, and I wasn't aware she was foreign, until a heard a few hints of European accent come through. Not to criticize her - most non-native English speaker never manage to develop a perfect English accent, and hers is pretty close.

reply

she's a very good actress and can easily do an accent.

Couldn't even tell she wasn't from the U.S. from her performance in "One Hour Photo."
