Viggo Mortensen Says Being Accused of Racism After N-Word Quote Was ‘Unfair’ and ‘Dangerous’

Once more, the accused is far more moral than the SJW accusers.

Mortensen drew backlash for saying the derogatory term aloud during a November post-screening Q&A. The actor once again clarified his intention behind saying the word while also criticizing the way the media jumped on the story and misinterpreted it.

“I would like to say that how it has been explained, that I was simply saying the N-word is not used anymore, that’s not what I was saying,” Mortensen said. “What I was saying was that just because people don’t say that word anymore, it doesn’t mean they don’t still harbor discrimination and racism inside of themselves. Racism tends to evolve and change its vocabulary, its face. That doesn’t mean it has disappeared. We always need to be on guard. That’s what I was saying. The full context.”

Mortensen continued, “One person tweeted I said that word and the room went silent. The room did not go silent. There was no context given, and that’s regrettable. It’s a serious thing to throw around. To accuse someone of being racist without giving context of what they were talking about, that’s not only unfair to me but it’s also damaging to social discourse. As the people who were in the room know, the context in which I used the word, which is shocking to people still, especially coming from a white person, it was to talk about the need for each generation to keep working. It does not disappear. We always have to be wary of it. That’s what I was talking about.”

He's right, but the woke can always be counted on to misinterpret, or just plain lie, in order to fake racism where it doesn't exist or to get attention for whatever they're hysterical about at the moment.

reply

Yup.

He had a movie coming out and probably wanted publicity for it. Celebs always attempt to create a "scandal" for attention and promotion. Nothing new.

He could have easily said "racist epithet" or "N-word", but that wouldn't have created the attention he wanted for his movie promotion.

reply

Saying “racist epithet,” or “N-word,” in the CONTEXT that Viggo was using it, would be like a therapist providing trauma informed care to an individual who was raped and referring to the rape as “r-word,” which takes the experience of said trauma and minimizes it to baby speak as well as giving all the power, control, and priority, to the word instead of empowering the individual victimized by the rape, to stand over their experience, face their experience, confront their experience, and you don’t accomplish that by minimizing a word to its snowflake spirit animal.

reply

Apples and oranges since the rape word isn't considered offensive.

reply

Rape is considered an offensive word by some people. It's a very ugly word IMO

reply

No, its not. You can say the word freely on the major commercial networks without any problem. Offensive words would be swear words and epithets which are banned by them.

White people begging for permission to use the n-word is never a good look.

reply

some people find it offensive. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

reply

First, the reason my title says "N-word" is because the article does. If I were quoting someone who used it I would put "nigger" in quotes.

This is a long established tradition. White people don't need permission if black people don't. Only a fucking racist thinks otherwise, right?

I was NOT acceptable to say "rape" on TV until the 70s. PC is very offensive, let's ban it!

reply

Yes, white people have a long tradition in using the n-word.

Racists, white supremacists and neo-Nazis upset 😡 they can't freely use the word.

Your topic will be deleted by the monitors if you use the actual word in the title.
