The nicest guy!

I had the opportunity to attend the NYC Museum of the Moving Image's screening of 'Collaborator' on June 19. Mr. Morse, along with writer/director/star Martin Donovan and producer Ted Hope, was present.

Following the screening, a brief Q&A was conducted during which I attempted to ask both Mr. Morse and Mr. Donovan if they ever found themselves stuck in character during filming. I was a bit starstruck, and stumbled over my words, but to his eternal credit Mr. Morse helped me find my footing. He answered my question quite sincerely and with reassuring eye contact.

After the Q&A, Mr. Morse took more time to speak with me. In response to my apology for asking such a horrendously phrased question ("I'm new to this" I told him), he replied it was "easy to feel vulnerable when you're new to something" (I paraphrase). He even asked what my interests in film were, why I attended the screening, and introduced me to his family!

I could not have been more flattered by and pleased with Mr. Morse's congeniality. As a filmmaker myself, I'm inspired by his lack of egotism and his open-hearted nature. I hope Mr. Morse's career continues to flourish, and that I may have the good fortune to collaborate on a film with him someday!

Wow! That's amazing, Im so jealous! Who was he there with? Im not really surprised he was so nice though, he seems so lovely and sincere in interviews. I would have been so awestruck at meeting him I probably wouldnt have been able to speak so well done you!

Sometimes its nervewracking meeting people like that in case they dont live up to our expectations but its fabulous when they exceed them.

Thanks for your kind comments bigbluecheese! Mr. Morse was at the screening with his wife and son; I believe it may have been his and his wife's anniversary that evening.

how lovely. I would have gone a bit wobbly!

That's a cool story. He's a great actor. I had the same kind of moment when i met one of my favorite actors unexpectedly...i stumbled over every word i tried to speak...even though i use to work with the studios and see and meet actors often...it's different when it's someone you really like.

Thanks! It seems that, in the moment, any prior planning of what to say to a respected artist can easily go right out the window. It's really reassuring when this doesn't off-put the person in question, though.

Very true...the actor i met was completely cool and nice even though i couldn't get my words straight.
