He became a Hoser. He now lives off of ODSP cheques for his ''bad back'' in Hamilton Ontario and hangs out at the Tim Horton's hours on end drinking beer and vaping with his Hoser buddies in the parking lot. I have observed this with my own eyes. He has gone back to his roots.

From what I know he is largely fond of “maple drank”. It’s maple syrup, cough syrup and Canada Dry ginger ale mixed together. He’s big into it.

FYI it's common for ordinary people to keep working up to age 70 and beyond, for financial reasons.

But even if Moranis doesn't need money, he could keep acting into his sixties, seventies, or eighties, if he was healthy enough... and he wanted to. Acting isn't coal mining, it's not one of those jobs that's so demanding that it's limited to the young and fit. Someone has to play the scene-stealing grandpas, after all!

Sure it happens but majority of Americans do not. Usually if someone is working that long they need the cash. Which is ok. I'm not shaming them because I will probably work until I cannot. But I find it funny that people question why am actor isn't working well after most people want to retire but they don't question if a friend or family member are not working until 66-70....they just accept it...lol

And sure acting isn't as hard on the body...but neither is being a school teacher or secretary....yet guess what..
They almost all retire before 70....heck most school teachers I know either do or want to retire before 60...lmao...

He's happy doing what he does. He also realized he doesn't miss the Hollywood lifestyle. So really no motivation to return.

So, What the hell happened?

Sadly, Rick Moranis’ wife died of liver cancer in 1991. In 1997, Moranis decided to take a break from film-making. As Moranis himself explained, “I’m a single parent and I just found that it was too difficult to manage raising my kids and doing the traveling involved in making movies. So I took a little bit of a break. And the little bit of a break turned into a longer break, and then I found that I really didn’t miss it”.

So that’s it. That’s the answer to the question, What the hell happened to Rick Moranis? It’s a lot cleaner than the answer I usually come up with in these articles.
