Watching the marathon on Sundance.

Regret that they're showing the last season from start to finish. That was the worst. No Cloris Leachman or Valerie Harper, too much Georgette, and just weak. Bad idea overall.. and making me wonder if I really liked this show as much as I thought I did.

reply

Totally agree. It's just not the same as earlier seasons.

reply

I agree, but I think that's where they were in their syndication cycle. I've been recording the series which they air every Friday morning, and the last season would have been the next episodes to air.

reply

The last season was when they show started to run out of ideas (IMO).

I totally agree. The last season was the worst. Bad bad idea to salute Mary and the MTM show by showing those episodes.

reply

I agree also. Some of those final plotlines had the show almost jumping the shark.

Like Mary dating Murray's near 70 year old Dad, the dream sequence of the guys picturing themselves being married to her, and the one with her asking out Lou.

What I didn't like was waaaaaay too much TED. He was my least favorite character,
as he was too cartoonish, and had very few redeeming qualities (vain, stupid, AND
cheap). In the final year, the baby stuff was yawn-inducing. I feel the series
should've ended two years earlier.

reply

Ted seems to be the character you either love the most or hate the most on the show.

Count me as a lover.

reply

Really? I've never met another fan who didn't like him. I seem to be the only
one.
