Yeah its an oddity but shes in grand company of famous acts that never broke the States, like Oasis, the Jam, Cliff Richard, Take That, Blur...Jason Donovan (lol)

Haha true! You could add Robbie Williams, Blur and The Kinks to that list too.

To be fair, Kylie does really well in the US club charts and has broken a few records there, which makes it even stranger that mainstream success always seems just out of reach for her in America. Perhaps you had to grow up with her to really "get" her...

Saying she never broke the States is a bit of an exaggeration. She has had a bunch of songs that charted well over there, especially her early 2000´s stuff.

For sure I hear you Billy, but when you compare her success in other areas to the US (where in her 30+ year career she's only ever had 2 Top 10 singles) you do notice an ambivalence about her over there. I remember when she was taking on Kylie Jenner over trademark recently, it was mentioned on that Wendy Williams show and it was obvious she had almost no idea who Minogue was! Just interesting to me that a someone can be a household name everywhere but still a niche act at best in the US.

I'm in U.S. and have been a fan of Kylie since I was in college. That was over twenty-five years ago. A few of my friends used to hear me playing her tapes and ask who that was. Took me forever to upgrade to CD. I couldn't find them.

I Should Be So Lucky is one my favorites.

Awesome! That reminds me of the time I had US visitors and had her 1994 album playing and they asked who it was and couldn't believe it when I told them it was the Locomotion girl..

Oh I find Lucky hard to listen to these days unless it's a live version, that synthetic 80's bubblegum sound hasn't aged well for my ears. Everything from 1990 on is pretty timeless though.
