Accent in Dexter

His accent in Dexter is so terrible. I'm surprised no one has mentioned it yet. I don't know why they don't get American actors to play American roles.

I love him in Elementary, tho .

American actors play all sorts of different nationalities, so why shouldn't different nationalities play Americans?

reply

Usually the accent isn't butchered so badly

Lol I beg to differ. I'd say a majority of the time, American actors do atrocious foreign accents.

reply

For the same reason they didn't cast a Kryptonian as Superman.

reply

Kryptonians: yet another group vilified by racism! Oh, when, oh when, will diversity be complete?

reply

His accent in Afterglow was also fairly weak and inauthentic.

reply

The bad accent may have been deliberate.

In Elementary there have been episodes of Sherlock talking foreign languages or practising and perfecting specific regional accents, seemed very good to me at a point the script needed it.

reply

I thought it was pretty good in Eli Stone, but then, I'm not American.

You're going to suffer...but you'll be happy about it!

reply

I don't think he did badly at all.
