Born on the same month and year...why I identified with him most

In Jurassic Park.

Joseph was born the same month almost to the day, and year as I was, and when we were about 2 years old, we lived within 20 miles of one another. The true irony - mom wanted to audition me for roles just like that ( I later audition for a role in Terminator 3, which I did not get, but hey, you have to try!).

Kind of funny in a way because I watched Jurassic Park through Timmy's eyes. Seeing him in Jurassic Park made me want to do that kind of work - one kid inspiring another - very nice :)

And I think that's what Spielberg was going for. He knew who his core audience was - kids exactly the age I was then - mostly boys - and so he changed the script so that Joseph could play Timmy (reversed their ages as Joseph was too young to play Tim's age in the book).

I'm actually amazed he hasn't become more famous and done more big roles. Radio Flyer and Jurassic Park, you'd think, would rocket him into stardome.

It's also funny that he still looks like...well...Tim Murphy! Grown now of course but you can still instantly recognize him.

I've not yet seen The Pacific - does he have a significant role in it?
