awful actor

I thought he was utter crap in the Pacific. Its no wonder he hasn't been in much since he was a kid. Absolutely third rate amateur performance.
If you think he's gonna win an Emmy or any other award you're an idiot. Hes gonna fade back into B movie land where he belongs, at the very best.

wow...clearly you are no judge of acting skill. he was amazing. if you weren't compelled by his portrayal of sledge's transformation, YOU'RE an idiot.

He was the one that stood out to me, but I agree they were all fantastic. Maybe OP has something against dinosaurs?

As other posters have mentioned, the IMDB board has become a hornet's nest of mean-spirited posters with nothing better to do but to smear actors. And with such bad thinking.

Here we have HOJU1 -- hiding safely behind anonymity -- claiming that Joseph Mazzello is an "awful actor", and that his acting is "utter crap". Yet HOJU1 never takes the trouble to mention why this is so, by detailing a given scene where his acting was supposedly "bad". To so so, of course, would mean that HOJU1 swould actualy have to back up what he says with actual evidence. It is much easier simply to utter two-worded phrases to smear somebody, without having to carry the thought further. This is what's known as bad writing.

If HOJU1 would look at JM's resume on IMDB, he would notice that he has won a number of acting awards. His student film won an award at an indie festival. One would think that the juries involved have some competence -- more competence than an semi-literate poster who can manage to grunt two-worded insults.

One poster, in reply, mentioned that all the acting in The Pacific was great. And I agree. One example of the imicilic mental level of the posting at IMDB are some of the negative coments about The Pacific. I do not agree with all of the biases or scenes in this series. But I come away from it thinking that this is a superb, sure-fire Emmy-award winning series -- a production at the very highest standard. Only a fool would think that the acting in this series is "utter crap". Yet there are too many fools making insulting comments, just for the sake of seeing insults in print.

Very well said, dmurrell. I cannot figure out why people find it enjoyable to come on a message board and say nasty remarks for no reason. I know they get a kick out of getting a rise out of other people, but their words really just reflect poorly upon themselves and show how utterly pathetic THEY are. People like the OP are just insecure with their own non-existent lives and try to make themselves feel better by bashing people who are more talented and successful than they are.

I thought Joe did a very respectable job. I connected with Sledge more than anyone else in 'The Pacific', and a lot of that had to do with Joe's skill as an actor.

To HOJU1,

I haven't seen any work he has done as an adult, but his work as a child was AMAZING. This kid made me literally SOB in Shadowlands, and that is not easy to do. While he did not develop leading man looks, I cannot believe that his acting talent would have somehow disappeared.

As someone who grew-up watching his movies...He's been acting his face off since the early nineties and he's just heartbreaking each time.

The heart and soul of The Pacific IMO. He has many accolades headed his way, and Im pretty sure one idiot who spams on an IMDB message board is NOT going to change that.

Also I think it pretty awesome how "normal" he turned out to be. I followed Brad Renfro's acting career as well and that ended tragically. Kudos to Joe for going on to college and earning a degree, AND major kudos for not going down the young hollywood drug scene he probably easily could have.

The poster's history says it all about the kind of person he is: mean spirited and nasty.
