Google "Sons of Lee Marvin"

Tall, lean, prematurely gray, but other than that not much resemblance.

Yeah. I always thought people who confused the two were not really familiar with either actor. They don't look anything like one another once you get past the gray hair.

As a kid growing up in the 70s and watching both Coburn and Marvin films I always felt there were similarities, even though they're very much different. As James got older near the end of his life he reminded me a lot of John Houston and even had those long disfigured finger joints.
