It's a puzzle to me. She is not attractive whatsoever. In fact she looks like my mom's best friend, who is like 50 something. The woman is homely, to put it nicely. She's not bad looking, maybe a little plain but not ugly, but good looking enough to be a big actress? I don't understand it.

shareFirst of all, many people think she's attractive. You're in the minority on that.
Secondly, being "good looking" isn't an actual prerequisite for acting. The supermodel-caliber stars that you see in big budget Hollywood blockbusters represent a very small percentage of the acting universe.
My guess is the a game of fish would puzzle you.
