Considering her last film came out in 1942 (the year she died at 33), I doubt there are three dozen people on the planet that can name five of her films off the top of their head.

I would hope there are more people than that that watch and appreciate classic films. Have you seen any of her films?

reply

Oh, there are many of course, and I have seen at least two of hers…but name them? No way. I was born 13 years after she died. My oldest aunt passed a few years ago and she was 16 when Lombard passed. I doubt she could have named more than a couple and that was the crux of my point. Those still alive who were even teens in the 1940s have aging/frail memories.

Baby boomers like myself, even avid old-movie watchers would have to be a HUGE fan to name several of Lombard’s films.

Bottom line her last film was shot nearly 80 years ago. I can name several dozen films shot before them, but name five of hers? Only by chance. No certainty at all. I think you get my point.

That's why I rate and keep track of what movies I see on imdb and Letterboxd. Others who do the same would be able to list the ones they have seen of hers.

I was a little surprised to realise I have only seen three of her films, although they are all goodies.

I'd rank them:

1. My Man Godfrey
2. Twentieth Century
3. To Be or Not to Be
