One of the best portrayals of a serial killer...ever!

Arthur Mitchell has to be one of the creepiest characters in the history of television. I mean every scene with him made the hair on your back stand up. When they introduced that he had a family, that made him a lot-less one dimensional. On the outside, they seemed like the ideal family to everyone. On the inside, you could clearly see the cracks and how he controlled them. This kind of reminds me of the real life BTK serial killer in Kansas who had a family, a job, a normal life and involvement in the church.

Holy crap! I just finished season 4 of Dexter! John Lithgow was amazing as Arthur Mitchel! And I did not see that ending coming at all! Whoa, just whoa!

Totally agree. This is how villains are really supposed to be played. Vile, evil, and truly disturbing. Too many villains try to be likeable and relate-able as well, but the way he played Arthur Mitchell, you just REALLY wanted him to die. The first bath tub scene and the ledge scene were really horrific and disturbing. Especially for a TV show.

Agreed. I think a big reason dexter went downhill after that was due to his performance. There's NO WAY you top that, not even close.
