Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2?

From The Truman Show and Mystic River to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2. And playing a supporting role to Megan Fox. A long way down for Laura Linney.

Yeah what role is she playing in TMNT2?? I was shocked to read she was part of the cast? What secrets does Michael Bay have on Laura Linney for her to attach herself to this?!?! Most shocking casting news since Dame Judi Dench signed up for a Pitch Black sequel.

As a long-time fan, this is sooo disappointing. Saw her in the preview for it and didn't believe it till I saw it again! WTF? I may not have liked every one of her movies, but they've always been on the intellectual side of things. I mean, she lends her voice to Masterpiece, for crying out loud!

Her response in an interview published last year: "My son will be able to see a movie that I’m in without being traumatised. Because I’m either having sex in this movie, or being emotionally tortured in that movie, and so on.”

I think it's awesome. It shows that, although she's super-talented, she's not conceited in viewing doing a pop action flick as "beneath her." I love her more serious, intellectual roles - however, it'll be fun to see her let her hair down and do something completely different for a change. Sometimes you just need to turn off your brain and be entertained, and I'd much rather see her in something like this than a lot of the "actresses" Hollywood is shoving in our faces these days.

Actors have to eat, pay the bills, etc.

Hope she got a decent pay cheque.

Also, when you've had the legenthy career like hers, you're allowed to do a movie like this.

I remember Nicole Kidman saying something similar about doing "Paddington"

Maybe she just wanted to do a role without the pressure of having to give a top notch Oscar worthy performance, and can just show up every day and have fun.

Also like she said, she wanted to do something her kids can actually watch.

And if nothing else, Money. Lots and lots of money.
