Johnny Depp claims Jared Leto presented something new and fresh, someone to look up to, who don't watch his own movies.
Johnny Depp consulted with Leto before doing Edward Scissorhands.

I'm glad you know when people are joking on these boards because there are times I have no clue. People say the most outlandish things and they are not kidding, way more out there than this. This isn't even close because part of it could be true.

How could it be true? Edward scissorhands was made before Leto had his first acting credit.
