NO! She was on my list of immortals! How truly terrible...

RIP. To me she will always be remembered for her role as Phyllis Lindstrom, Mary Richard’s aggrieved landlady.

Who in the MTM cast are still with us? Sue Ann, Lou, Murray and Gordy?

reply

R.I.P. A long life, a great career.

Her performance in The Last Picture Show is one of the greatest ever to win the supporting actress Oscar.

No doubt. One of my favorite movies, for it's stark look at life in this particular community. It seems a little artificial but also like cinema verite. A fascinating balance of what's Fun To Watch On Screen and What's Real Life Like.

Over the years I've noticed when she showed up in old Westerns, and she could play an attractive woman or a dusty old broad equally well.
Do you want a pretty girl to play a part, or do you want an actress?
I think Cloris was wonderful, like Madeleine Kahn and Catherine O'Hara, at playing whatever part was offered her.
Great comic timing, and also full of heart and soul.

It’s one of my favourite films, too - a brilliant, beautiful, devastating one of a kind with a perfect cast.

Cloris used to show up in lots of older movies. I vividly remember her brief but crucial appearance in Kiss Me Deadly - possibly her movie debut. And she kept beavering away right to the end. A great loss, even at such a fine age.

She was so great as Nurse Diesel (takeoff of Nurse Ratched from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest) in High Anxiety.

Very sad! A nice long life though. She had so many hilarious and wonderful roles over the years! R.I.P. Ms. Leachman
