So who's the better crazy TV mom? Next to Yort14, I may be the second biggest Jessica Lange fan, but IMO, Vera Farmiga is a show-stopping, incredible NORMA BATES. No one could possibly do the part better. She's even better than AHS's "Constance" from season 1.
BTW, congrats to both on their individual CRITICS' CHOICE AWARD nominations!

I think Vera Farmiga is superb in that role. I couldn't picture anyone else. She really brings Norma to the edge of madness.And still, She's very subtle and never goes over the top. She's abusive yet still makes you care.As does Lange. Lange s role of Constance is more in the tradition of a Bette Davis,southern gothic type of performance. Hers is a television,tour de force.She's a wise poetic "mother". Her character seemed more in control of the supernatural storyline,where as Norma is an object of her reality landscape. These characters live in different worlds. I still believe that Lange stands out,due to her brave "supporting" creation. But I love what Farmiga's doing.

Vera does a great job on Bates Motel, but I think Lange is a better actress all around.

shareVera is still young compared to Jessica, maybe she will mature like her and become better and better. Jessica is better than ever right now, so let's wait for Vera. I love Vera, I find her interesting and I am sure that she's not done surprising us.
