The actor who most needs to GET OVER himself:

I found the little news blurb about Kingsley's wife leaving him because he's such a snob amusing. Reports claim he insisted that her friends call him Sir Ben. Kingsley's publicist says that's not true and that he's to "humble" to do such a thing. Obviously she doesn't know Kingsley all that well. He's been insisting that everyone call him Sir Ben ever since he was knighted. At last year's Oscar ceremony he not only corrected Canadian journalist Ben Mulroney for not calling him Sir Ben, he also insisted that his wife be called Lady Kingsley. I couldn't believe it. I wonder if only Canadian's got to see that.

The man is a great actor but I'm not sure I could ever work with him.

I just bought Gandhi on DVD and was watching the extras. On the DVD is a 20 min clips showing Ben Kinsley talking about his part in Gandhi.

I couldn't believe my ears! He was going on, and on of how he 'could PERFECTLY mimic' any person he wanted and how he amuses people by doing so. Talking about how he got the part by 'doing such a wonderful Hamlet. And how he fooled the sound guy into thinking he was listening to Gandhi, when he was in fact listening to Kinsgley! It's a funny story, but Ben's (BEN'S!)smirky face at the end really annoyed me!

He was, I'm not joking, exactly like David Brent from 'The Office'! I swear! Exactly alike! When he was talking of how he didn’t move while playing the dead Gandhi (despite having rose petals being thrown at him) he was talking in the same fashion as Ricky Gervais' character.

(paraphrase): "They were trying to ruin the take by making me smile. But I didn't move! They soon stopped doing that!"

Well Donnald you got further than I did - I tried watching the special features last night and couldn't believe how egotistical this guy was. I had to switch it off.
What an ass.

Yeah I hear what you guys are saying, his performace as Gandhi was very memorable (although i don't like a lot of his recent work like Bloodrayne, Thunderbirds, The last legion) but he totally up himself and talks as if no one else could have achieved a performance like what he did with Gandhi. Like many actors he's very arrogant and I found him to be in love with himself when I listened to him go on about his perfomance as Gandhi in the extras of the DVD. The guy's old and single and his number one fan is himself. I always assumed he would be a humble guy but he's not and I guess thats one of this shortcomings.

Actually, Olivier always insisted on people calling him Larry.
