Every movie in which she acts, Keenenr always has that same frustrated PMS face and just acts like a total bitch. Granted, I have not seen all of her films, but Ballad and American Crime stand out as two of the worst performances by an actor I have ever seen. I was fairly indifferent to her character in Into the Wild, but that's because she played a harmless retarded hippie.

shareI find that comment a little stupid, as first of all you are putting her in the same league as truly bad actresses such as Elizabeth Berkley etc. Catherine is not and will never be on that level.
Secondly, you only need to look at a slightly bigger sample of her work. An American Crime, she played a cold hearted bitch... but was Gertrude anything less? I know it sounds stupid, but watching one of her less serious roles like 40 Year Old Virgin, you can tell she is able to play completely different roles! Give her more of a chance and I doubt you'll be disappointed.

True statement regarding Berkley; however, Berkley hasn't shown up in any movies that had script potential. Kenner, on the other hand, won't go away. Every pseudo-indie/lo-fi film has her cast for her undoubted high pitched whines and squinted eyes. As for An American Crime, I did not dislike her for the character she portrayed, rather for the fact that her performance was not believable save for a couple shining moments (like you said, she isn't the 'worst' actress of all time). 40 Year Old Virgin and her ridiculously unfunny performance in it can blow me. And I agree with the original post about Ballad of Jack and Rose. Great film nearly ruined by her and Dano's performance.
