Has she ever done comedy?

And if so, what was her best?

I only started getting into Isabelle Huppert recently and am quickly becoming a big fan. The woman is a tremendous talent. Another thread here describes her as "Meryl Streep on steroids" and I must say that sounds pretty spot on.

I've only seen her in four films, though, and they were all dramas: Story of Women, The Piano Teacher, The Separation and Private Property. She was marvellous in all four, but I'm curious to see her in something "frothier" next for a change.

She must be pretty skilled at comedy as well, and I wanna find out for myself. Can any Isabelle fans recommend me her best comedy(/ies)?

Where does fantasy end and reality begin?

One of her latest films is a comedy, decidedly a black one, Elle.

Tip Top is also a comedy, though it doesn't work too well.

Check out 8 femmes (2002) by Francois Ozon. A very charming film with some of the best French actresses!

A few:

My Best Friend’s Girl
8 Women
I Heart Huckabees
Copacabana
My Worst Nightmare
Tip Top
Paris Follies

Most of her films with Claude Chabrol could be called black comedies

Tavernier thinks she's the best French actress if her generation when she does comedy. She can do caustic very well. She hasn't done many straight up comedies (if you exclude two recent ones with Marc Fitoussi that were rather unremarkable), as her brand of humour is more suited to satirical works or dramedies, like those she did with Godard. 8 femmes is probably the most memorable of her "lighter" works.

 I can give you "Rien ne va plus", alright.
