About bloody time

I have been a huge fan of Isabelle Huppert since I saw The Piano Teacher as a very impressionable young adult. It simply blew me away and I have loved the woman ever since. I have worked my way through some of her back catalog, stuff that I could get my hands on because living in South Africa you can understand that it's a bit difficult, and loved every single performance I have seen of the woman.

I recently watched Elle and it is the female performance of the year but sadly we all know the Oscar's are going to give the trophy to current Hollywood darling - Emma Stone - because she is in a film that essentially celebrates the Hollywood industry itself.

But let's not forget this woman has already won two Cannes Awards for Best Actress, an award that is far greater in status than any Oscar or Golden Globe in mine and many's other minds.

Huppert is a sublime actress that does not need an Academy Award to define her. She is.

How about watching some of the other films before you make those predictions? The Hollywood FOREIGN Press gave her this award more as a cumulative career achievement. Natalie Portman was blatantly robbed. Huppert will probably not even get an Oscar nomination.

I did watch some of the others and Natalie Portman's was so paint-by-the numbers it was like watching paint dry. I am glad the Hollywood Foreign press did not give it to that soulless performance.

If they only gave her the award as a career achievement, then why was Natalie Portman the sole nomination for "Jackie" and "Elle" managed to pull an upset win over critics favorite "Toni Erdmann"?

"KatTS" / "M" / "LLL" / "KoC-VoT" / "NA"
