Was Whitney a terrible musician when you really think about it?

I'm so sick of people calling Whitney unbelievably talented simply because she happened to be BORN with a great voice, that's like calling people who are beautiful talented because they happen to be BORN beautiful

Whitney was a terrible musician, she never wrote or produced her own material. In factm Clive Davis controlled her and would find other people's songs for her to sing, her videos were lackluster for the most, she doesn't have one memorable tour or iconic look aside from possibly The Bodyguard film, she couldn't dance and did not play instruments. Even Babyface once stated that Whitney couldn't even read musical notes.

She was a VERY good vocalist for hire who had NO OPINION about anything and whose biggest hits were covers or songs written by other people. She had almost ZERO musical talent. Back in the day people used to make fun of Whitney when she attempted to dance.

Sounds like a fake accusation from jealous Mariah Carey stan. Those fanboys can't deal with the fact that Whitney is still more famous than Mariah or Celine - even after her death

Houston was not known or lauded for being a musician. Her fame was her singing. Duh..

That's like saying Babe Ruth wasn't great because he could only hit and field but wasn't a coach or manager.

If the human voice is an instrument, her skill wasn’t just having it, but knowing how to play it.

She did have amazing vocal control and the ability to emote. “I will always love you” shows the depth and shade she could bring to the song.

So she is a musician.

No one is born with a great voice. You have learn how to use it just like any instrument.
Many singers can't write shit and depend on songwriters. What's wrong with that?

She was beautiful bubbly young female with a lot of natural talent.

That's a lot to have when you want a career singing pop music.
