Can’t Believe There Are No Topics By Anyone I Don’t Have On “Ignore”

So I’m making my own. Let’s keep it simple, and summarize the man. His career lasted FOUR YEARS. Let that sink in. Four fucking years, yet he redefined rock guitar.

On the CW’s Legends of Tomorrow, they had an episode set at the Woodstock Music Festival at Max Yasgar’s farm, where the Legends had to gather talismans for a magic spell. One requisite item was “something stolen from a god.” They stole it from James Marshall “Jimi” Hendrix.

Jimi made his US debut at the Monterey Pop Music Festival, which also featured Otis Redding. In the liner notes to the album Live At Monterey Pop, the author wrote of Jimi, “When he walked on [the] stage, he was a rumor. When he left [the stage], he was a legend.”

Clapton is magnificent. So are Jimmy Page, Peter Greene, Jeff Beck, Link Ray, Bo Diddley, Dave Mason, Keith Richards and many others. NONE of them had only 4 years to make a mark that echoes through history.

If you’ve not heard them, listen to his albums Blues and Band of Gypsies.

Yes, Jimi was a natural force that changed how players looked at their guitars.
He had a natural touch for the fret board and could bend and make it sing to his satisfaction.
Then he burned out too young, which is a cautionary tale for all the kids who want to be the next Jimi.
