Here is my theory on why she gets bashed in the media
Just my theory, could be wrong--but I think it is close to being right
1) She think she is a better actress then she is--this is common in actors-no biggie
2) She has insisted on rewrites on screen plays that made he character more important or shown in a better light and diminished the roles of other actors. Again his happens a lot--Jimmy Stewart was notorious for this, but Stewart was and is a legend.
3) Her decision that it was up to her not to get nominated for an emmy because the WRITING WAS BAD for her character. This is a big no no. You do not bite the hand that feeds to often. Dan Laraquette of night court declined to get nominated after winning it four years in a row and said it was a good run and it was time for someone else to get the limelight--That year the writing was bad on night court and he took the high road--Heigl took a shot at the show--she was not the star of the show--it is called
4) Recently saw the pilot of her new show and IMO they have given her way too much back story with too many issues and the writing for her is ten times better then for anyone else on the show. I realize she is the star, but even star driven shows the writing should be crisp for all the roles and not just one.
There are a lot of little things that she has done that has caused trouble. I think she is has done damage to her career because she surrounded herself with yes people and she has suffered the fate that happens to those people.
I think you just need how Greys Anatomy has gone out of its way to take some interesting shots and her character at different times. Most have been amusing.
