Found my respect for him in Major Dundee

I don't know why, but I just never favored Richard Harris, nor disliked him, but after seeing Peckinpah's Major Dundee several times, I have a new found respect for him. That in turn urged me to revisit some of his other works again, and discovered just how talented he really was. Thank you for your works Mr Harris.

Richard Harris was very good in Major Dundee, and in some respects he "stole" the movie from Charlton Heston. However the film seemed to focus as much on the supporting characters as Dundee himself, which rather hampered Heston in the title role. Harris gave a more flamboyant performance, but then he was playing a flamboyant character. Heston was solid enough but Harris, going out in a blaze of glory, damn near won me over. Good movie, flawed, badly edited by the studio suits, it's still worth watching.
