Since I read this in a tabloid, who knows if this is true, but it's interesting. According to the article, as a college student, he and the late singer dated. Naturally he took her untimely death very hard.

Their dating is discussed in a biography of her that was done several years back. Sounds like it really happened.

Thank for the info. Was the bio you mentioned entitled Little Girl Blue? I think it came out in 2010-11. I briefly skimmed though it at the library.
