Finger?

On an episode of NCIS, Harmon (as SA Gibbs) gets into a shoot out on a bus where it shows his right hand index finger injured. Thing is, just watching The Presidio (1988) and the same finger appears to be an issue in this movie. Anyone know what the problem is with the finger?

Probably an injury from when he played college football
