why has she done so little?

She's worked a lot and appeared in some hit films (Spy Kids movies, Sin City, Night at the Museum, American Gangster) some modest hits (The Unborn, Son in Law) and headlined two tv shows (Karen Sisco, Threshold) and been a regular or recurred on several more. Some of the films she did were intended to be big hits like Watchmen and Sucker Punch but never took off.

She also has the female lead in San Andreas and Wayward Pines on tv, so she's still going strong.

So, really, she's had a career 99% of actors would kill for.

She was in Sucker Punch? Am I the only person who liked that movie?

The woman has worked on 88 projects since she was a teenager and was a fashion model before acting! She also produced two movies and has worked in tons of projects with Robert Rodriguez and her director life partner (not sure if they are together still). She's also had memorable story arcs on tv shows like Spin City, Californication, Entourage, starred in the short lived but well done Karen Cisco based on the Elmore Leonard books and has been in some
successful block busters and a lot of interesting indies. The fact she still gets
interesting parts or smaller roles in bigger movies at her age in Hollywood is amazing itself. She's still has upcoming projects and keeps working, which most actors and actresses just want because they love what they do and to make a living at it since she was a teenager is a big triumph. She might not want to be a superstar in the tabloids and likes playing all kind of roles and stays under the radar that allows her to have a real life!

As has been suggested, Carla Gugino has a career most actors would only dream of. Beyond that, she carries her sexuality understated with her intelligence shining through.

I really loved 'Threshold' and 'Karen Sisco" was good. Both of those series could have been continuing series, especially 'Threshold" which was the first series of a trilogy or a triptych series. Yes, she has had more than her fair share of cancelled series, but shows get cancelled for way too many reasons beyond the acting ability of a single actor. I keep hoping just once, she will get a part that shows Carla knock it out of the park. One character where critics and fans alike see what I and thousands of other fans see. Carla Gugino is a master at her craftamd one hell of a good looking and smart lady.

And Yes, I like Sucker Punch. Most peeps didn't get it, but SP is another reason Zach Snyder got to direct Man of Steel.

even if she did show her tits in every thing she was in, still no gaurantee she'd be a major star. Though would be nice if she whipped her puppies out more, in San Andreas with the Rock, I almost rather seen her naked over the younger chick playing their daughter.

I liked the action sequences. The premise, the character development and the ending all sucked, but hot lingerie-clad women insteam-punk kung-fu gunplay with monsters? Sophomoric, but I'll watch it again!
