Charles Affron’s biography of Lillian Gish

Just finished reading Mr. Affron’s bio Lillian Gish: Her Legend Her Life. It came out in 2001. Very informative about the early years as well as her later ones. I think she had a very happy life. She had a spine of steel despite her cream puff delicate appearance, but she was no Jekyll and Hyde. She was always polite but firm.

Ultimately, I think she was more important to the birth of a credible screen acting philosophy than anyone else.

would you recommend the book?

Yes! I enjoyed it and learned a lot about the early days of film. Also, I started to understand why Griffith entered a decline in the early 20s.
