Career-ender

I don't know what Fiennes was thinking when he decided it was a good idea to portray Michael Jackson in what is sure to be a disaster of a made-for-tv movie. Jokes about Jackson's skin color notwithstanding, it was an incredibly bad idea to cast a white actor as Jackson. The bad taste from something like this has the potential to completely derail Fiennes' career, as studios tend to not want to be affiliated with actors who make such bad choices and carry such an ugly blemish on their record

I honestly don't know what the hell he was thinking taking this part.

It's not going to help his career at all.

LOL at people who haven't even seen it judging it. It looks to be a farce and meant to be a little controversial. The same people who are mad about this are the same people who think Hamilton is the greatest thing ever. It's ironic and hilarious how dumb this society has gotten.

I also cannot figure out why Joe and his agent thought this was a smart career move. It was a poor choice, but I'm sure Fiennes meant no disrespect by it. I hope this will not be a career-ender for him. He's a brilliant and talented actor with many years experience. I hope people will see it as a mistake, a flub, and he can move on to better roles and better choices.

Granted, people need to realize this was not a huge movie role or an iconic piece. It's a comedic take on three celebrities in a thirty minute television episode. We'll now never see it because Sky has pulled it from airing after backlash.

Joe deserves better roles than this and maybe he should think about finding another agent if possible.

Thats why they call it ACTING....

This will be a career boost, because frankly, Fiennes hasn't been on anyone's radar for probably 15 years. He didn't cast himself in the role, so pretty sure, he's blameless. Was he supposed to turn down an avante garde role becaues some random IMDB user might get uptight about it?

Eh, I beg to differ.

It wasn't too long ago that Fiennes was cast as the main star in the short-lived ABC science fiction drama Flashforward (2009).

I'm still pretty heartbroken to this day that it ended abruptly. Fiennes did an excellent job at portraying the Mark Benford character. It's a shame he isn't offered more roles.

But, it does seem as though Fiennes is the Ted McGinley of T.V. shows. Either that or, he has the worst agent in the world.

I don't know what Paris Jackson's problem is regarding the portrayal of Michael Jackson from Fiennes. I guess we'll never find out since Urban Myths (2017) was recently axed due to her objection.

I never heard of that show, (which doesn't mean i don't respect your opinion, or even doubt that its a good show). If his greatest work was quickly cancelled tv show, that proves my point.

He hasn't really been the focus of the media since Shakespeare in Love, there's no such thing as bad publicity
