I don't get why he isn't more famous or working in bigger projects (except for disaster Lone Ranger) he is good, maybe needs a new agent.

He's got the career he wants, I think, and it is an extremely successful one. He's more interested in "the guy with three legs who can dance", as he says, when he looks at a script rather than the guy who saves the day, if the guy who saves the day is kind of flat. He works in huge projects and tiny ones and everything in between and because he has been so successful for so many years now, he doesn't have to work on anything that doesn't interest him.

There really are not many actors working today with the variety of roles, the consistency of terrific performances and the longevity of career this guy has. John C. Reilly, William H. Macy are two other actors of the same class that I know are going to make me happy the second they appear on screen because they are guaranteed to be good. Fichtner makes me happy the second he appears on screen for a few other reasons because I have a completely stupid celebrity crush on the man but also because he is guaranteed to be good. And these are all guys whose private lives do not interest the paparazzi so they can live like normal people.

It’s an odd thing about the acting profession that the very, very, very vast majority of its members make considerably less money a year than I do (this is saying a lot because I make about the kind of cash you’d expect for someone with multiple humanity degrees), cannot support themselves without working other jobs, are unknown to anyone but their mothers and are not as talented as they think they are and yet, if an actor does two, three, sometimes four films a year, is always in the main cast, does multiple TV series, always as one of the leads, does this for 25 plus years, consistently gets great reviews for just about everything he does and is, in short, in the top .01 percent of his profession, people wonder why he isn’t more successful.

Love him too - so versatile. Have had a crush on him since late '90's. Great actor and I'll watch anything he's in.
