So sorry to hear this. He was a wonderful actor in anything he appeared in, capable of playing both warm geniality & cold-eyed evil, comedy & heartbreaking drama.

Farewell old friend.

They drew first blood. They drew first blood....

He was a great part of movies through my childhood. He gave Tommyboy some serious heart.

reply

People need to watch the first Rambo movie First Blood (1982). To me, his most memorable and best role.

reply

He was outstanding in it.

reply

Agree.

But I remember how he stole the bar scene in the movie 10. Just subtle, not over the top at all, but I remember being impressed the first time I saw 10 in the theater when he was just an unknown bit player.

reply

Yes great movie, except for the corn rows...corn rows??

reply

LOL, one of the first cultural appropriations...

reply

Yeah, love to find a bar like that. Dennehy behind it, Dudley Moore on the piano and a lonely Dee Wallace at the end.

reply

Peace be with him. Always a reliable character actor. I remember seeing him on Letterman years ago. He said people would often confuse him for Charles Durning because of their similar appearance.

reply

One of those rare actors who could play good or evil equally.
