Excited to see what she does with this role! Sybil Thorndike was a legendary English actress who unlike Judi never made it big in pictures hence never recieved an Oscar Nomination..can't wait to see what she does with it!
shareShe was a scene stealer in this movie!!!! I haven't heard any Oscar buzz surrounding her performance in My Week With Marilyn, but after seeing this movie I can't believe she wouldn't get a nomination for it. She was stellar!
shareQuick question...how big is Dench's role in this movie? I was under the impression her scenes were limited. Does she have more than 8 minutes of screen time? That's about the amount of time she spent on screen during her Oscar winning performance in "Shakespeare in Love".
shareI do have to admit, her screen time is very limited in this. She shows up at the beginning of the film shoot and is very sympathetic and protective of Marilyn when Laurence Olivier loses his patience with her shenanigans... but then after the few key scenes, she doesn't show up again until the very end for one more scene. In total, I think her total screen time probably amounted to roughly five or so minutes.
