Never thought I'd say this about a woman

But Ellen DeGeneres has a punchable face

reply

Her nice gal schtick is wearing thin. Her mask is beginning to fall. I'm loving every minute of it

reply

I must confess that I am, too (lovin' it)

reply

😃😃😃

reply

If you don't look at her as a woman, it makes it better.

reply

She's ok.

I don't really understand the witch hunt. You would think that this sort of public persecution would be reserved for the really bad people; you know the rapists, murderers, pedophiles. Apparently not though, you just need to be a talk show host that people dislike for everyone to join in the public flaming.

I don't know the woman, she might very well be the bitch everyone insists she is. If so, huh, big deal really.

reply

It's one thing to be a bitch; it's another when your whole persona is supposedly you are one of the nicest people on planet Earth; you do everything to further that image; and it is all a lie. It's called comeuppance, and who doesn't like a good comeuppance. Regardless, she will be a very wealthy woman for the rest of her life.

reply

Are you convinced it's all a lie though? You don't think perhaps there is a possibility she is a fairly nice person who is being attacked a little unfairly? I must say I have no great stakes in the Ellen debate one way or another, I don't like her talk show and I find her only mildly funny as a comedian, but it amazes me that everyone is bemoaning cancel culture but they are more than happy to pile up on a celebrity because the word is she's not as nice as she makes out to be. BURN THE WITCH!!!

reply

I guess the problem people have in this case is that she’s presented herself as this incredibly nice and bubbly person, so the idea that she isn’t really like that when she’s not on camera rubs people the wrong way. I suppose it’s the same reason why people get mad at J.K. Rowling and Joss Whedon when they say or do something controversial, while hardly saying anything when it comes to someone like Ricky Gervais.

Personally though, I think this whole thing is kind of silly, but I guess that’s just the current age we live in. I feel like Fred Rogers would’ve been torn apart if he were still alive.

reply

Some of the allegations are more serious than I think you are giving them credit for, up to and including Ellen turning a blind eye to sexual abuse

reply

I have heard that there were problems with sexual misconduct behind the scenes, but did she personally witness that stuff happening, and refuse to do anything about it?

reply

Yes, definitely that is a serious allegation, one that I think would warrant a criminal investigation if there's any substance to it.

I'd really like to think that Ellen would not condone or be complicit about sexual abuse. I suppose anything's possible but it seems so unlikely to me. Oh well I guess the full story will come out one day. At the moment though it feels to me like she is being bullied and that always makes me a bit uncomfortable.

reply

I also don't like her "I take responsibility" but in fact she is blaming others (producers, etc). She is a complete phony. The recent Brad Garrett/Lea Thompson statements I tend to believe.

reply

"You would think that this sort of public persecution would be reserved for the really bad people; you know the rapists, murderers, pedophiles."

Have you watched any CNN in the last 4 years?

reply

I have not watched any CNN in the past 46 years.

Why do you ask?

reply

Makes sense. Because CNN has been persecuting Trump since he became President. Now the MSM has moved on from politicians, to celebrities and other public figures.

reply

OK, I'm not sure they are exactly the same thing, Ellen Degeneres isn't making decisions that impact the entire planet. I think it is necessary for Trump to be under a lot more scrutiny.

And yes it does make sense that I haven't watched CNN since I'm in Australia.

reply

Except that the media scrutiny Trump has been under is unprecedented for any President ever. There has definitely been a shift in how the media operates in the last 5 or so years, becoming proponents of "cancel culture" and "woke politics". We are just starting to see the beginnings of it now. I would say a good example of this in Australia would be Israel Folau.

reply

People don't like being conned. She must have been having a right laugh at the public behind the scenes with all her "be kind" horseshit. Lecturing the public on what was right and wrong whilst deceiving them. Rapists and murderers are scum but generally only injure their unfortunate victims. Ellen screwed millions of people with her act.

reply

There's lots of women with punchable faces. Like Ghislaine Maxwell or Kayleigh McEnany.

reply

Actually, all real men secretly want to cover Kayleigh McEnany's face with kisses.

reply

Have some standards.

reply

And have that ice queen turn my lips blue? Get outta here!!

reply

I'm still not quite sure you have.

reply

She does have a punchable face, doesn't she. If you have issues with being a man and hitting a woman, you can let me do it :D. No rules about one woman punching another in the face, hehe.

reply

My money's on Ellen in that fight, sorry to say.

reply

Here is the specific picture that prompted my post. (picture at the top)

Looks like Alfred E. Neuman of Mad Magazine

reply

The link is broken *sob*

But I know of her face. I remember how ridiculous it was to see her on Cover Girl commercials. *rolls eyes*

reply

I think I fixed

reply

Good lord! She looks like an evil witch! :O

reply

At the very least a mug that is crying out for a pie

reply

The all time most punchable face award still goes to Bill Maher. Every time you see that dick-nose you just want to punch it. Ellen is not that bad though. She is taking a lot of heat right now. So, that's usually followed by "punchy face" accolades.

reply

I am not a fan, but not really a Hater either.

I believe a lot of the reveling in her "downfall" are the same people who complain about being found guilty before proven innocent in the public eye because it happened to some people they admire, but then turn around and exact the same amount of prejudging that they found offensive and unfair.

That being said, I say let's see the final results of the internal investigations. In many cases, people find ways to be offended and victimized because they are weak but were probably enabled to work in such a place because of Affirmative Action. IIRC, the main complaints right now are from some anonymous black employees? What little background about the complaints that I have read about seem trivial and over the top.
