Great in The Shining

He was also the original voice of Jazz from Transformers. Imagine my surprise when I first saw The Shining at 16, and thought his voice sounded familiar.

He was also freaking hilarious in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, all the patients were making a mess of the office while the lights were off and he's telling everyone to be quiet.

Very memorable. Played the role of the personable chef so well.

Especially the part where he's laying down in bed in his Florida apartment watching TV and Danny is sending him psychic messages about the evil that's going on or about to go down at the overlook. Heard it took dozens of takes. I always wondered how they got Scatman's eyes to dilate like that even though the light was shining directly in his eyes. His pupils should have been pinpoint but they were huge. I always thought that they maybe use those drops that they put in your eyes to dilate them for a eye exam. But I haven't been able to find anything about that online.
