JC is terrifying in "Eyes" (Night Gallery)

"I want to see something! Grass! Trees! Sky! Airplanes! COLOR!!!"

She is thoroughly self-consumed, not caring about anything or anybody else, she is ruthless and vicious. And what makes it even more disturbing is that, despite the awful horror show that is her character, it is very easy to empathize with her situation. She wants to be able to see. It's human nature. And with this, when life plays the ultimate cruel trick on her, it endows the premise with a terrible kind of dark glee. (pun intended subconsciously)

And Joan Crawford plays this character with terrifying emotional conviction. When she says... "In the 54-year history of my sojourn on Earth, no one has ever done me justice, beginning with God!" ...she is bone-chillingly good.

Hey Lukerdog! -- Very cool to hear that you found the episode as chilling as I did. You don't hear a lot about Joan's appearance in it, but I think it's one of the best things she ever did. I think that Joan's best performances would likely have been the characters she could identify with, and I bet there were just a few similarities between Joan and her imperious, angry-at-the-world blind lady.

Have a nice day.
