In that famous speech he made about the Black community. People today like to call him a hypocrite since he turned out to be a rapist, but that fact in no way invalidates the points he made with which most people agreed at the time. I remember a CNN poll about it and literally 99% of responders agreed with him.

Yep. Denouncing his observations by calling him a rapist...that's actually what the ad hominem fallacy is. "You're wrong cause you're terrible!" The problem was that he highlighted personal responsibility. And at the end of the day, most people eschew that.
