I'm sure there's a board about this but-- what happened to Mermaid?

She commented :

''We didn’t agree creatively about how to do it, so I didn’t want to continue. As we were getting closer, it just wasn’t the right fit for what they needed for that project and the way I work. I decided to do something in a smaller scale, the way I like to work.''

Apparently her vision was for a more Disney-esque feel. But the producers wanted something closer to the HCA original Mermaid, which is a bit dark.
She also wanted to go for an unknown for the lead, but the studio wanted an established actress. They went with Chloe Moretz.

where are you getting the info that she wanted it more "Disney-esque"? I heard the opposite.
